User IDs

User IDs ensure that every user is unique, and consistent across years.  Vidigami references two types of IDs that each User and each Group has, in order to identify and link, namely:

  • Vidigami IDs are system-generated and automatically assigned to every user and every group as they are created. You can use Vidigami IDs to setup the system, but they are not editable.
  • Host (External) IDs are created and assigned by other external systems that you are using. Examples include Student Information Systems (SIS), Content Management Systems (CMS), and other similar applications that house student/parent/staff information.

It is highly recommended for consistency that you use the same set of External IDs for every user. If you do not have a system that provides unique IDs, the Vidigami ID is your backup.
